Metabolism and Medicine
The Metabolic Landscape of Health and Disease (Volume 2)
Book Description
The process of aging and chronic illnesses should be considered through the perspective of biophysical processes and metabolism at all levels of physical and mental organization which are found in our bodies. This book connects these concepts with the processes that lead these processes to fail in the context of unhealthy life styles and aging, in the hope of helping improve the quality of scientific research. The book also explains the links between the sciences and art of medicine to patients solve their problems. The most recent and significant developments in the fields of metabolic disorders and metabolism are explored in depth.
Key Features:
A comprehensive and up-to-date review of metabolic health issues and chronic diseases and disease progression, with a focus on the interconnectedness of topics that range between molecular clocks, the stress response and nuclear hormone receptors and the role of microbiota and the human health.
It offers a deeper understanding of the science behind it and a broad understanding about the biology which expands the range of therapeutic solution-finding , exploring the advantages of this Physiological Fitness Landscape
Discusses the importance of the role of insulin resistance in metabolic disorders, specifically diabetes. It also discusses the link with cancer and Alzheimer's diseases.
Examines the way that aging occurs from the standpoint of metabolic decline and illustrates this with The Physiological Fitness Landscape
The book, which is the second volume of the set of two volumes is primarily targeted at biology and clinical students as well as biomedical scientists and doctors who would benefit from learning the other's language.
Author Dr. Brian J. Fertig, MD
Biography
* Brian J Fertig, M.D., F.A.C.E. is the founding physician and also the President of the Diabetes & Osteoporosis Center in Piscataway, New Jersey Dr. Fertig's research in the field of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, which covers the phases of intern, residency as well as private practices, spans an entire 34 years.
*Dr. Fertig is also an Associate Professor at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and is the Chairman of the Department of Diabetes & Endocrinology at Hackensack Meridian Health JFK the University Medical Center.
*Dr. Fertig's enthusiasm in the field of patient care and discovering the causes behind illnesses was the primary reason and inspiration for writing the two volumes of the book series Metabolism and Medicine. Dr. Fertig's research focused on.
* Fertig discovered new concepts to improve his abilities to tackle problems that are extremely beneficial to the other practitioners he works with and the next generation of health professionals. He is extremely worried about how the medical profession is evolving. through the training that is offered in schools. This is one of the principal motives behind the author to write this piece. Additionally, he is concerned about the necessity of inter-disciplinary knowledge to improve the quality of healthcare to patients particularly due to the growing use of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
* The foundation of his theory is that the larger the group of researchers and clinicians who are interdisciplinary or expert in clinical care and the more comprehensive the knowledge base, and the advantages for the patient.
* The increasing use of bioinformatics could enable personalized medical treatment. However, the next path for medicine requires the capability to alter the techniques that were created in Physics.
* This lets them measure therapeutic possibilities with incredible precision. Since physics tends to extend empirical research to create principles of nature, while biology is trying to determine particular nuances that arise as the result of these two fields , they will offer the most insightful direction for medical arts and sciences.
